Last weekend, the Around the Americas crew took back to the waters here in the PNW and completed two kelp sites in Victoria, BC. 🌿🌊
We studied these sites via multi spectral drone and underwater GoPro footage, alongside water quality data to determine environmental conditions. These are likely our final sites of the year, as kelp will die off as we transition out of the summer season. Kelp forests are on the frontlines of climate change. Our large and growing data set of these forests is critical to better understanding what is impacting these ecosystems and overall ocean health, informing how we can best protect our biggest climate ally. 🌎🌊
